What did Klaviyo announce at K:BOS 2026?

By , Founder of Everboost · Published

The short answer

At K:BOS on 9 September 2026, Klaviyo announced it is going headless: its MCP server and APIs can now be used from Claude, ChatGPT or a custom agent without opening Klaviyo. It also launched SQL inside the Klaviyo Data Platform (preview), renamed Marketing Analytics to Personalization with new AI models deciding who, what, when and which channel (a paid add-on from $100 a month, new models in preview), added scheduled tasks and reusable Skills to Composer, launched a Composer mobile app (iOS preview), gave Customer Agent 100+ languages with voice coming soon, and previewed Clicks to Bricks and a Compliance Hub. For most DTC brands, the headless MCP access and Composer Skills are worth acting on now; the rest is worth testing or watching.

What was announced at K:BOS 2026, in one table?

K:BOS is Klaviyo’s annual customer conference in Boston, and the 2026 announcements landed on 9 September. Klaviyo’s own coverage is spread across a press release, a keynote blog post, a takeaways post and a community explainer, and none of them puts status, cost and “should you bother” side by side. As of October 2026, this is where each one stands:

Everboost is a Klaviyo partner and runs Klaviyo daily across its client accounts, so read the verdicts as an operator’s view: we want the platform to work, and we only recommend what we would switch on for a client.

What does “Klaviyo goes headless” actually mean?

It means Klaviyo no longer assumes you work inside Klaviyo. Its MCP server (the connector that lets AI tools talk to an account) and its APIs are now positioned as the front door, so a marketer can ask Claude or ChatGPT to pull a report, or an agent can read, write and go live without anyone opening the Klaviyo interface. Klaviyo’s own examples are a custom reporting dashboard built in Cursor with live Klaviyo data, and a weekly performance review that posts to Slack.

The part most write-ups miss is how far the write access has moved. In July, the MCP server could draft campaigns and templates but could not build flows or create segments. As of October 2026, Everboost’s live connection exposes tools to create flows, segments and forms, with new flow actions defaulting to draft, plus a campaign send tool that will not run without explicit user confirmation. That is a big change in what an AI tool can do to an account, which is why the read-only advice matters more now, not less. Our Klaviyo MCP server guide covers setup, safety settings and the agency multi-account problem: one connection still binds to one Klaviyo account.

What’s new in Composer, and is it worth using?

Composer, Klaviyo’s AI marketing agent, got four upgrades: answers backed by the new SQL engine with a citation you can check, scheduled tasks (a monthly performance summary or a recurring audit that runs on its own), Skills (saved instructions it applies every time) and segment editing. Klaviyo says more than 138,000 users rely on it.

Skills are the upgrade we would act on first. Everboost has built Composer Skills for segment building, technical account audits and flow wireframes, so the same standard is applied every time rather than depending on how well someone writes a prompt that day. The value is consistency, not speed. Scheduled tasks are the second: a recurring audit that flags an overlapping audience or a declining flow before anyone goes looking is exactly the kind of check that gets skipped in a busy month.

Composer pricing changed in September 2026. Every account now gets a free plan that resets every 30 days, and the paid plan is $20 a month for four times the free capacity, with extra usage in $10 increments. The 10,000-credit launch pricing is now labelled legacy. Our Composer guide covers what it is good and bad at.

What is SQL in the Klaviyo Data Platform?

A preview feature that turns a plain-language question into a SQL query, runs it on your own data and returns the answer with the query attached. Klaviyo’s argument is that showing the query makes AI answers checkable, and that the same question returns the same answer every time. It can query profiles, events, segments, lists and catalogues, with forms, flows and custom objects “coming soon”, and Klaviyo has said a semantic layer (your own definitions for metrics and custom properties) will follow.

How to use it while it is in preview: ask questions you already know the answer to first, and compare against your dashboard. The common failure with AI answers in Klaviyo is not bad maths but the wrong definition, for example counting every Placed Order event rather than attributed revenue, which is the mismatch our attribution guide explains. Everboost’s rule for any AI-generated number is the same: check the query, not just the answer.

What changed with Marketing Analytics, now Personalization?

The add-on has been renamed and given a bigger job. The existing analytics (RFM analysis, a customisable CLV report, product analysis, multi-touch attribution) stay, and Klaviyo has added specialised models that make decisions on every send:

  1. Who to reach: Audience Optimization, which drops profiles unlikely to engage, based on live RFM data.
  2. What to show: 1:1 content, product recommendations and Discount Decisioning.
  3. When: Personalized Send Time.
  4. Which channel: Channel Affinity.

It is still a paid add-on to the Marketing plan, priced from $100 a month for up to 13,500 active profiles, and the new models are in preview. Klaviyo has built in holdout testing that measures lift against real customers who did not get the treatment, which is the right way to judge it.

Our view: if you already pay for Marketing Analytics, test Audience Optimization against a holdout after Black Friday, not before. A model that decides who receives a campaign is exactly the setting you do not want to change during your highest-volume weeks, and our Black Friday Klaviyo guide recommends sending as broad as deliverability allows on the big days. If you do not pay for it yet, the new models alone are not a reason to buy it until the holdout results come in. Our Personalization guide covers what the standard Marketing plan already includes and when the add-on is worth paying for.

Where do Klaviyo’s own announcements disagree?

On three details, which matters if you are planning around them:

  • How many MCP tools. The press release says “260+ MCP tools and capabilities and 490+ APIs”. Klaviyo’s community explainer says “more than 400 tools and nearly 500 APIs”.
  • Where SQL works. The press release says SQL is available in Composer and MCP as a preview. The keynote blog says it is in Composer today, with Claude and ChatGPT support coming soon.
  • What SQL can query. The press release lists profiles, events, segments, lists and catalogues. The keynote blog adds campaigns.

None of this is unusual for a launch week, but it means the live tool list on your own connection is the only reliable answer. Everboost checks it directly rather than relying on announcement copy.

What else did Klaviyo announce?

  • Customer Agent now supports more than 100 languages, detecting locale through Shopify Markets and showing the right catalogue, pricing and currency per market. Voice, handling a full phone call with the customer’s history, is coming soon with pricing not finalised. Klaviyo says Customer Agent has exchanged more than 1.3 million messages.
  • Customer Hub gains more web personalisation and is included in the Marketing plan.
  • Clicks to Bricks (preview) targets shoppers near a physical location, so it only matters to brands with stores or stockists.
  • Compliance Hub (coming soon) promises a view of compliance health as regulations change.
  • AI search: Klaviyo said orders from AI search were up 13 times year on year. It is Klaviyo’s figure from its own platform, and it is one reason Everboost writes these guides in a format AI tools can quote.

What should a DTC brand do now?

Three things, in this order, and none of them changes what customers receive during peak:

  1. Connect an AI tool to Klaviyo in read-only mode and use it for reporting. It is free on the Klaviyo side and saves hours of clicking through reports.
  2. Turn your repeat work into Composer Skills, starting with the audit or check your team runs most often, and schedule it.
  3. Put Personalization’s Audience Optimization on the January test list, with a holdout, if you already pay for the add-on.

If you would rather have a team that already runs all of this decide what is worth switching on for your account, book an intro call.

Frequently asked questions

When was K:BOS 2026?

K:BOS is Klaviyo's annual customer conference in Boston. The 2026 edition ran over two days, with the main announcements made on 9 September 2026 in a press release and a keynote blog post from co-founder and co-CEO Andrew Bialecki.

What does it mean that Klaviyo is going headless?

It means you no longer have to work inside Klaviyo's own interface to use Klaviyo. Its MCP server and APIs can be called from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or an agent you build, so an AI tool can read your account data and take actions on your behalf. What a connection can see and do depends on the user's role and the permissions granted, and Klaviyo recommends starting new connections in read-only mode.

What is Klaviyo Personalization?

Personalization is the new name for Marketing Analytics, Klaviyo's paid add-on that includes RFM analysis, a customisable CLV report, product analysis and multi-touch attribution. At K:BOS Klaviyo added specialised models that decide who to reach (Audience Optimization), what to show them (1:1 content, recommendations, Discount Decisioning), when (Personalized Send Time) and which channel (Channel Affinity). Klaviyo's help centre prices it from $100 a month for up to 13,500 active profiles, and the new models are in preview.

Is Klaviyo Marketing Analytics being discontinued?

No. It has been renamed and expanded into Personalization. The existing features such as RFM analysis, the customisable CLV report and product analysis remain, and it is still sold as a paid add-on priced on active profiles.

What is SQL in the Klaviyo Data Platform?

A preview feature that lets you ask a data question in plain language and have Klaviyo turn it into a SQL query, run it against your own account data and return the answer together with the query it used. Klaviyo says it can query profiles, events, segments, lists and catalogues today, with forms, flows and custom objects coming. Klaviyo's own announcements disagree on whether it is available through MCP yet or only in Composer, so check your own account.

Can the Klaviyo MCP server build flows now?

As of October 2026, yes, as drafts. Everboost's live MCP connection exposes tools to create flows from a full flow definition, create segments and create forms, with new flow actions defaulting to draft status. It also exposes a campaign send tool that will not run without an explicit confirmation from the user. Klaviyo's public documentation has trailed what live connections expose, so check the tool list on your own connection.

How much does Klaviyo Composer cost?

As of October 2026, every Klaviyo account gets a free Composer plan that resets every 30 days (Klaviyo's pricing page lists it as $5 of Composer usage a month). The paid Composer plan is $20 a month for four times the free capacity, with extra usage bought in $10 increments, and unused capacity does not roll over. This replaced the 10,000-credit, $14-a-month launch pricing, which Klaviyo now labels legacy.

What are Composer Skills?

Saved, reusable instructions that Composer applies without you repeating them in every prompt, such as brand guidelines, subject line standards or a set way of doing a task. Everboost uses them for repeatable work like building segments, running technical audits of an account and wireframing flows, so the same standard is applied every time.

Does Klaviyo have a mobile app?

Yes, in preview. The first version, announced at K:BOS 2026, is built around Composer so you can check performance and work with Composer from your phone. Klaviyo's community post says it is iOS only at preview, with more functionality coming.

What did Klaviyo say about AI search at K:BOS 2026?

Klaviyo said orders coming from AI search were up 13 times year on year, one of the data points it shared at the conference. It is Klaviyo's own figure from its platform data, and it was used to argue that brands need customer data and content that AI tools can find and use.

Should a DTC brand act on the K:BOS 2026 announcements before Black Friday?

Mostly no. The two worth using now are read-only MCP connections for reporting and Composer Skills for repeatable work, because both save time without changing what customers receive. Anything that changes who gets which message, such as Personalization's Audience Optimization, is better tested against a holdout after the peak than switched on during it.
